A Young Boy
By Emily Thrasher
A young boy who grew up
To be a young man
Thought he had it all
Thought he had a plan
What he didn’t know
Was it was about to end
With the things that happened next
I had to say good-bye to my friend
He would never know
How much I cared for him
He would’ve never guessed
It would’ve been so grim
It was just one night
When he wasn’t thinking clear
He chose to do drugs
Now he’s no longer here
I wish I could change the past
I know the choice was his
But I wish he had said no
Now he’s the one I missSunday, October 15, 2017
Love Too True
By Emily Thrasher
This is love
I feel it in my soul
Hold me tightly
My heart you've stole
Hold me tightly
My heart you've stole
I feel so happy
My mind's become clear
My heart has grown full
With nothing left to fear
I think of you
You think of me
My trust in you
I will not flee
Emotions felt deep
When I see your face
My heart in bliss
From your embrace
My heart in bliss
From your embrace
To be chosen
To be with you
Is pure happiness
With love too true
Broken Hearted
By Emily Thrasher, 2006
I see you everyday
And someday you’ll pay
For the way you made me feel
A wound that can not heal
A love all by itself
My heart lies on a shelf
It’s no longer whole
Love has taken its toll
Why don’t you love me?
Why do you flee?
I feel so helpless
When I think of your kiss
You take ahold of me
Why can’t you see?
Lonely soul left to roam
My heart has no home

Without Love
By Emily Thrasher, 2005
Can
you stand to look at me?
Do
I disgust thee?
Are
my eyes so bleak?
That
I am one not to seek?
For
love is what I lack
No
one can see
The
thing I wish to be
Something
I wish I had
It
makes me so sad
My tears run long
My
life’s a bad song
No
one wants to sing
No
smile to bring
My
rose is dead
I’m
screaming in my head
I’m
crying out to you
Yet
you have no clue
A Woman’s Flight
By Emily Thrasher
She desperately wanted to fly
To be above it all in the sky
She began to ruffle her feathers
Breaking free from all the tethers
To find freedom and peace
And let the stress decrease
Soaring above the animosity
Maneuvering with such velocity
Away from the unfortunate opposition
Nothing will stop her ambition
Feeling stronger than the toughest steel
She begins on the path to heal
Feeling the wind caress her face
Flying high with such grace
Above the sadness and remorse
She plans a whole new course
Finding the needed love and devotion
She stays away from all the commotion

Haiku: Silence of the Heart
By Emily Thrasher, 2015
Made you walk away
You had nothing left to say
There is no halfway
Remorseful is me
Everything I couldn’t be
Wishing you would see
Don’t want you to leave
My heart is out on my sleeve
Want you to believe
No words will come out
My love for you please don’t flout
Warm Words
By Emily Thrasher, 2015
A
terrible thought of her chases after me
Miserable
memories lodged in my mind
The hurt
I can no longer hide
Like a
breath held too long
My
tear-filled eyes close
That
hushed voice finds me
Points
out the blissful truth
He started
to persuade
The
haunting hurt to fade away
With each
warm word whispered in my ear
And all
that fear slips from my heart

Feeling Alone
By Emily Thrasher
Looking
out my window, feeling so alone
No one to
call on my phone
Sometimes
it’s hard to just cope
Trying not
to lose all hope
Baffled and
wondering why
Pushing forward,
living day to day
My demons
I must learn to slay
My mind
races with disturbing thoughts
Nauseated,
my stomach all in knots
Feeling
like I got left behind
Wishing I
could get it all off my mind

Sadness Unseen
By Emily Thrasher, 2015
I saw you
laughing
When I
came by yesterday
Your sparkling
smile
Was like
diamonds gleaming
I felt
your warmth and
I thought
you were peaceful
Your eyes
so full of pain
How did I
miss the underlying sorrow?
Today I
saw you break down
Tears
streamed down your face
How long
has this bothered you?
Sadness I
never knew you felt
It must
have felt like an eternity
Alone
with your thoughts

The Sea of Tears
By Emily Thrasher, 2014
Trying to escape from all my fears
The worry that haunts my dreams
Making my feelings go to extremes
We can’t fight what pulls us down
Whipping around a whirlpool of waves
The flood we’re in makes us slaves
Master of misery is where my soul rests
Dreadful amount of time before this ingests
Meager negotiations, feels like your clowning
Floating and splashing, along for the ride
I will go down in this terrible tide
Until my last breath I will fight the undertow
If I drown, only then will I let you go
Tormenting Heartache
By Emily Thrasher, 2015
My soul screams out in torment
While endlessly stuck in lament
Blame is justifiably mine alone
Not something you can condone
I don’t know how to be strong
When all this time I’ve been wrong
Like a tornado destroying my reality
Sorrow sets in with brutality
Desperately wishing it’s not real
Unbearable sadness is hard to feel
My mind drifts thinking about the past
Seems like nothing can truly last
There’s a heavy pain in my chest
Somewhere deep below my breast
Breathing is harder than before
The truth is tough to ignore
